Born in 1922, a native of Yangjiang, Guangdong Province, he
graduated from the Studio of Lin Fengmian in Chongqing National Art
Institute in 1946. He successively taught at Guangdong Art Institute,
Hangzhou National Art Institute, the Art Department of Shandong
University, the East China Branch of the Central Academy of Fine Arts and
Wuxi Art Institute of East China . Now he is professor of the Fine Arts
Department of Nanjing Art College and member of Chinese Artists’
Association.
His works of painting include “Early Spring”, “Portrait of a
Young Woman” and “Yuntai in the Setting Sun”, etc, in which “Early
Spring” won the bronze medal in the Seventh National Exhibition of Art
Works and was collected by China Art Gallery. He had the picture albums
“A Collection of Oil Paintings” and “Selected Paintings of Su Tianci”
to be published. He held his solo show in Nanjing in 1981. His paintings
are succinct in technique, being full of unique and distinct art style of
his own. He is a great successful painter to express the traditional
features of Chinese painting and the lingering charms of landscape of
mountains and rivers.
