He was born in 1925 in Xichong, Sichuan Province, and graduated from the oil painting training class of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1957. He successively held the posts such as painter of art studio under the Ministry of Politics and Culture of the People’s Liberation Army of China, vice-director of the art studio of the Chinese Military Museum, and art instructor of the same museum. At present he is standing councilor of Chinese Artists’ Association and vice-chairman of Chinese Oil Painting Committee. His works of painting include “A Letter from Motherland”, “Before the Attack” and “Gutian Meeting”, etc. The oil painting “Plenary Session of the Military Commission” created with Gao Hong won the second prize at All-China Art Works Exhibition for the 30th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China. He is an oil painter with a down-to-earth basic skill in overall fields of painting. In his paintings, whether figure, flower and plant or still life, it is expressed the technique of painting of higher level. He held his solo show in Singapore in 1990 and won wide acclaim.
